It was a weekend of highs and lows for Iowa’s Cody Thompson. The pilot of the the familiar No. 25c started his weekend at the $12,000-to-win, K-Town Klash at Wisconsin’s Mississippi Thunder Speedway on Friday night. With a staggering 79 entries on hand, Cody won his heat race to earn the 13th-starting spot for the mega feature.
Unfortunately, luck would not be on his side as he broke a gear and transmission early in the feature, which sidelined him to a 31st-place finish.
After replacing the damaged parts on Saturday the team went Park Jefferson International Speedway (Jefferson, South Dakota) on Saturday night to shake the car down. Things would go much smoother for Thompson as he won the feature from the fifth starting spot to record his 22nd win of the 2020 campaign. Rusty Montagne, John Foreman, Jonah Chinn and Dawson March completed the Top-5 finishers.
Iowa’s Clay County Fair Speedway was the scene of Thompson’s next race on Tuesday night. Twenty-eight IMCA Northern SportMod drivers entered the event. After finishing second in his heat race, Cody started seventh in the feature. He went on to advance to a runner-up finish in the night’s finale.
