Topping a stellar field of 68 entries on Tuesday night, Cody Thompson picked up his first-career IMCA Harris Clash triumph. The victory came in the 29th running of the event, which was held at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). To make the night even more memorable, the win marked the 100th of his young IMCA Northern SportMod career.
“This win means a lot to me,” he said from victory lane. “I told myself when I got in a SportMod that this was one of the races I wanted to win. It’s awesome.”
After winning his heat race, Thompson earned the outside-front-row starting spot for the mega finale at the 3/8-mile oval. He went on to lead all but the first lap, en route to the triumph in the 20-lap finale. With added bonuses, Thompson pocketed $2,200 for his winning performance.
Jake Sachau, Brayton Carter, Colby Fett and Jim Horejsi completed the Top-5 finishers.
