Wednesday found Cody Thompson kicking off the Captain of the Creek at Wisconsin’s 141 Speedway in his No. 25c Razor Chassis IMCA Northern SportMod.
Sixty-one competitors registered for battle at the 3/8-mile oval as prelims were held for the $5,000-to-win event. A double heat prelim program was in effect. Cody advanced from the seventh-starting spot to a second-place finish in his first heat race before winning his second heat race from the fourth-starting spot.
Via his heat performances, Thompson earned the third most points of the 61 entries.
Starting 10th in Thursday night’s mega finale, Thompson had high hopes, but unfortunately was an early retiree to a 22nd-place finish.
On Saturday night Cody competed in the IMCA Stock Car ranks at Park Jefferson International Speedway (Park Jefferson, South Dakota). Starting seventh in the feature he advanced to a runner-up finish behind Travis Barker.
With the finish, Thompson clinched the 2020 Park Jefferson International Speedway IMCA Northern SportMod Track Championship.
