Cody Thompson traveled to the state-of-the-art Jackson Motorplex on Tuesday evening. In a field of 25 IMCA Modifieds, Cody marched from the eighth-starting spot in his heat race to a third-place finish. Main event action positioned him 11th on the starting grid, and he advanced to a third-place finish in the 25-lap affair.
After seeing Friday night’s action at Murray County Speedway nixed by Mother Nature, Cody decided to try his hand with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Iowa’s Rock Rapid Speedway. With 36 cars, Thompson found the going tough with his spec motor versus the open motor competition. His night came to an early end with a 10th-place performance in the B-Main.
On Saturday evening the team traveled to Worthington Speedway for a Weekly Racing Series Event. A second-place finish in his heat race positioned Cody eighth on the grid for the feature. He passed six cars to finish second behind Cole Bents with Jesse Rogotzke, Kelly Shryock, and Jason Briese completing the Top-5 finishers.
Cody invaded I-80 Speedway for double IMCA Modified features on Sunday night. In the first feature, he started 10th before finishing seventh, while he started and finished fifth in the second feature.
On Monday night, Cody wrapped up his busy week of racing by celebrating his birthday in fine style at South Dakota’s Park Jefferson International Speedway. The night started slowly in heat race action with a fifth-place finish, but in the feature he rallied from the fifth-starting spot to pick up his fourth victory of the season. The triumph was extra special because it was also a Fastshafts All-Star Invitational qualifier.
Jim Thies, Sean Barragan, Ricky Stephan, and Chris Mills completed the Top-5 finishers.
