Pair of Top-5 Finishes for Thompson on Thursday at I-80; Crowned 2021 IMCA Modified Rookie of the Year

Cody Thompson was competing in two divisions on Thursday night at I-80 Speedway as he looked to tame both the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sport Mod action.

With 31 competitors battling for top glory in the IMCA Modified ranks, Cody raced from fifth to second in his heat race to earn the fifth-starting spot for the feature. He passed one car in the 21-lap finale to finish fourth behind Tom Berry Jr., Todd Shute, and Jacob Hobscheidt.

Meanwhile, in IMCA SportMod competition, Thompson faced off against 49 competitors. After finishing third in his heat race, he locked into the 13th-starting spot for the night’s 21-lap finale. Passing six racers, he crossed the finish line in seventh.
