Thompson competes in USMTS Spring Classic at Hamilton County Speedway
Sioux City, Iowa, native Cody Thompson had the opportunity to compete in his home state over the weekend when the Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) rolled into Hamilton County Speedway. The half-mile oval is located in Webster City in the Hawkeye State.
The 13th annual USMTS Spring Classic kicked off on Thursday evening, where Thompson drove his Dakota Coating Solutions No. 25C Dirt Modified to fourth place in his heat race. He then came home seventh in his B-Main, but utilized a provisional to qualify for the night’s 30-lap, $3,000-to-win feature event. Thompson picked up four spots in the night’s finale to score a 23rd-place result.
On Friday, Thompson finished eighth in his heat race and was unable to transfer to the night’s 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature event after coming home one position short with a sixth-place result in his B-Main.
The $10,000-to-win Saturday program was washed out.
