Thompson winds down season in pair of divisions at Charlie Clark Memorial
Park Jefferson Speedway (Jefferson, South Dakota) was on the schedule for Cody Thompson on Saturday, with the Sioux City, Iowa, driver competing in the Charlie Clark Memorial in both the Modified and Sport Compact programs.
In the Modified division, 33 IMCA racers were at the 3/8-mile track in search of the $5,022 first-place payout. Thompson finished fourth in his heat race in his No. 25c machine, starting him 16th in the 40-lap feature. He picked up four spots to come home 12th.
Twenty-two Sport Compacts were also part of the action, and Thompson drove his No. 18K ride to a heat race win from the pole. He then started fourth on the grid in the 15-lap, $522-to-win A-Main. He picked up two spots in the race and finished in the runner-up position behind Dillon Richards. Denny Berghahn Jr., Tyler Thompson and Gilbert Aldape completed the top five.
During the 2023 season, Thompson took eight feature wins, 22 top-fives and 30 top-10s.
