Cody Thompson kicked off a busy week of action on Wednesday night with a trip to Stuart Speedway (Stuart, Iowa) for the annual Jake Durbin Memorial. Thompson’s night in his No. 25c Razor Chassis started on a strong note with a heat race win, but unfortunately a mechanical failure in the finale relegated him to a 15th-place finish.
After racing to a third-place finish on Thursday night in IMCA Northern SportMod action at Nebraska’s U.S. 30 Raceway, the team rolled into I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) on Friday night. A third-to-first drive in his heat race, positioned Cody fifth on the starting grid in the 21-car NASCAR B-Mod field. Thompson rocketed to the front of the pack to score the win aboard his Maaske Motorsports / Precision Hydraulic & Oils / Extreme Lubricants / Jerovetz Motorsports Shock Service-sponsored entry.
Thompson’s 15th win of the season came over Shawn Harker, Scott Styskal, Matthew Andrews, and Arie Schouten.
While mechanical issues kept the team sidelined on Saturday, Thompson returned to action on Sunday evening at the New Raceway Park (Park Jefferson, South Dakota). After winning his heat race, Cody was positioned 11th on the starting grid for the feature. During the finale he progressively worked his way forward in the field, before snaring the lead on the final lap to score his second win of the weekend and his 16th win of the season.
